Our story
Naija ride. Naija earn.
WakaNaija was born from a simple frustration: Nigerian drivers work hard, yet ride-hailing apps take a quarter of every fare. We thought there had to be a fairer way.
Uber is leaving Nigeria. Bolt takes up to 25% commission. inDrive squeezes drivers with passenger underbidding and cash disputes. Meanwhile, the people who actually keep Lagos moving — the drivers — are left with less and less at the end of each day.
We built WakaNaija to flip that model. Drivers keep 95% of every fare, and for their first two months after sign-up, they keep 100% — zero commission. Passengers name the price they want to pay, drivers accept or send a counter, and the deal is done. No surge multipliers, no opaque algorithms.
But fair commission is only the start. WakaNaija is a whole ecosystem: a naira wallet that pays out to any Nigerian bank or mobile-money account, a referral program that rewards both sides, a driver verification flow built around Nigerian ID, and safety features like pickup codes, trusted contacts and route-deviation alerts.
We're Nigerian-built, Nigerian-focused, and here for the long haul. Every naira that stays with a driver is a naira that stays in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt and beyond.
